Take Me Home (TMH) would like to introduce you to our newest family member: Welcome Cupcake!

It is her incredible sweetness and gentle nature that earned her the name Cupcake. Cupcake's story is one that we will never fully know, but her severe leg injury tells a story of its own. From the minute to the hour that she became available at the shelter, TMH received a heartfelt plea that this was an emergency. Cupcake did not have much time and she was in pain; with a huge, swollen leg. This five month old Boxer girl needed help and needed it now! Having no available foster for her and absolutely no extra funding, we knew we would have a tough, uphill road to climb. But like all animals, she deserves a pain free and happy life, and TMH was going to give it to her....we hoped with some help from you!

TMH immediately contacted the amazing Dr. Balfour at the Animal Surgical and Emergency Center (ASEC) who said to bring her in as soon as she was released. We raced to the hospital and it was confirmed that she was either struck by a car or attacked. Her leg was fractured in two places, the radius and the ulna. Sadly, whoever had Cupcake allowed her to suffer for weeks (before she even got to the shelter!) as her leg was tremendously swollen and sore.
Cupcake's surgery took more than three long, tedious hours. Her radius was severely twisted and the swelling of the leg was engulfed with scar tissue. Cupcake will most likely require physical therapy in order to be able to use her front leg again. We are so grateful to Dr. Balfour and everyone at ASEC for giving Cupcake the best care and the chance at a normal life with this extensive surgery.
Thanks to you, Cupcake was able to receive the medical care she so badly needed. If you can donate any amount to help us, it will greatly enable us to keep saving and changing lives for the next animal in need. Thank you for standing with us and understanding how amazing these rescue animals are in their ability to forgive and to offer us tender kisses of gratitude!

Cupcake thanks you too for giving her a healing life and love.

Take Me Home is thrilled to report that Cupcake has been ADOPTED!

Cupcake is still recovering from her extensive and very expensive leg surgery, but we wanted you to see her new life.
A life where she will never be neglected or abandoned again. |

She will never sit for weeks with a painful debilitating injury in a small cage again. She is on the road to recovery and feeling great!
Cupcake is now surrounded by a wonderful canine and human family. They can't wait until the good doctor allows her to start swim therapy in her very own pool.

Cupcake also wants to share a little surprise with her friends: She is excited to follow in her canine big sister's gift of service! Once completely healed, Cupcake will begin her classes to become a certified therapy dog. Her sweet disposition will be enjoyed by those recovering in a hospital. Take Me Home knows Cupcake is up for the task and it warms our hearts to hear she will give back to others in a way only an animal can.
Just today, Cupcake accompanied her canine siblings to the adult day care facility in Camarillo. Cupcake was perfect and they all LOVED her!! Cupcake watched the old pro's do their thing and she followed along perfectly!

Because of you, Cupcake will soon run like the wind, give comfort to others who are healing, and enjoy HER LIFE with a forever family who adores her!
Thank you from Cupcake and all of us at Take Me Home!
