| Los Angeles Spay/Neuter Ordinance TMH played an integral role in passing the Nation’s largest Spay/Neuter Ordinance in the City of Los Angeles which went into effect October 1, 2008. TMH helped to orchestrate community meetings and cultivated both local and national support for the Ordinance. TMH is also helping the City of Los Angeles in a massive pro-bono public relations/awareness campaign to implement the new law. TMH also helped to raise funds for free spay and neuters to low income families throughout the state of California. Senate Bill 250 TMH is also supporting the latest California state Spay/Neuter Bill; the largest of its kind in the history of the United States with Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez. If passed, this bill will significantly decrease the number of dogs and cats entering animal shelters throughout the state of California and therefore decrease the euthanasia rate, saving Californians millions of dollars. Ain't Misbehavin - Just Misunderstood TMH sends abused, neglected and unfortunate dogs who have spent years behind bars in shelters or kennels to special training programs. TMH recently sent Boxers and Boxer-mixes from an overcrowded kennel in Los Angeles to an exciting three-month training program in Lancaster, California. Dogs who have been locked up for years are now running free with other dogs and learning valuable life lessons in becoming good canine citizens. TMH also works with renowned animal behaviorist Linn Boyke of Zen4K9’s. Some of the dogs chosen for this program were not given the proper care, training, love and respect that all animals should experience. They have survived in spite of the extreme traumas in their lives. Linn's mentor Cesar Milan is from the hit TV show, "The Dog Whisperer.” TMH believes that no animal is a "lost cause" and with Linn’s extensive training, proper exercise and positive leadership, they will learn to trust again in order to enter the home environment as happy well adjusted family members. TMH will carefully screen prospective adopters after dogs complete Linn’s program. A home check and evaluation with Linn will be mandatory. When the dog gets adopted, as part of the program, the new adopter will also work with Linn to ensure the family has the necessary tools and skills to ensure our dog remains a good canine citizen.
